Nouvelles pour juillet

Happy Independence Day (United States) on the 4th.

Reach down and tighten up those shoes its time for the biggest show in cycling the Tour de France. I will again try to not get sucked into watching every live minute possible but history tells me otherwise.

With hundreds of million viewers, the multi million dollar advertising campaigns, the Lance effect, the pro teams, the characters, the cheats all the drama can sometimes over shadow the endurance athlete racing his bike. The whole spectacle is like a huge shiny bobble that I cant look away from.

There are also some good local races this month so check the site calendar. My only plan at the moment is the 6/12 HOURS of Ithaca. This is our team sponsors home coarse and a super fun trail and event, I highly recommend it.

Lumberjack 100 SSneak Peak

Here is a preview of the single speed t-shirts I will be providing for the Lumberjack 100 race. Nothing new here just the classic single speed saying.

So if you are lucky enough to be racing ss look for one in your packets. If you are not racing there is still a chance you can score one of these in a future contest.

Wanna get Hammered?

I just received my first Hammer Nutrition Order of the year and I'm still working out my race schedule. That should be all sorted in June, there are so many choices this year. As you can see I'm all about the Orange flavors this year, keeping it simple. I have tried almost all the other products and am going to be sticking with the best.

Laying Pipe

In case you haven't ridden out at Indian Springs metropark recently, there is a Consumer Energy Pipeline Project cutting through my heart.

The work is schedule to last May - July 2009. Consumers told the park that it would be just like new when they are complete. I can't see how that can ever be, after the clear cutting it looks like they are putting in a 4 lane super highway with a center lane.

Fort Custer XC 09 Race Report

Saturday was so nice I was trying to come up with a good Sunday ride for Billy and I. Some friends were going to race at the Fort so with the warm sunny temps it was a pretty attractive option. Plus Billy races for $10 and I follow him so it's cheap too. So I surprise him Saturday night with the invite to race Sunday. He was game as usual.

After being parked in total organization by the Michigan National Guard, we registered. At that time the 10 slots in his all children under 10 age group had been filled. So he was the 11th to register with nearly 2 hours to race time. The class ended up having close to 15 give or take and it was a healthy looking group with some real tall 10 year old girls which made the boys look pretty weak by comparison.
