Captains Log - Day 3

Temp:74 Wind:Breezy Bike:Monster Cross

Visual - The visual from today's ride was a tie. Between a couple turtles getting busy on a log, and a dude riding in a leather jacket, beret and dark glasses of coarse he was on a gayered bike no self respecting singlespeeder would be caught sober in that get up.

Auditory - Sounds of the trail were the frogs, toads and crickets in full choir. On the mp3 player I had more of this Eluveitie - Slanias [here]

Sensory - Alot of smells today from Z-tec spraying rhino liner, Amerigas propane to more from Mexico Lindo and the greasy chip smell... again.

Theater - The words of the day were smooth and spin. I wanted a little recovery from the beating and banging I have been taking the last couple days. So I just headed out to the metro park for a couple laps. The wind stood me up a couple times on the way home and a couple steep climbs other than that mission accomplished.

Do Log - Day 2

Temp:67 Wind:Breezy Bike:Monster Cross

Visual - Noticed a lot of booze bottles on the shoulders, now the story of the pink panties is becoming clearer.

Auditory - Listened to all kinds of music today and a podcast today about human devolution. I will leave you with this link to some swiss folk metal [here]

Sensory - There were many today from sore grippers to the smells of the beasts mostly horse and cow. I did catch another favorable draft from Mexico Lindo and it was beef, bean and cheeseee.

Theater - Today's ride took me from home to plra to highland rec and then out to the metro park then home. The gravel roads were generally in good shape. I did hit some wash boards at about 20mph that rattled my eye balls, I could hardly keep focus.

Big Log - Day 1

Thought I would do some logging of the next 4-5 days of prime weather or until my legs fall off. I am going to try a new format called VAST visual auditory sensory theater, which is just to give some sensory cues of the days ride.

Temp:56 Wind:Mild Bike:Monster Cross

Visual - While riding out to plra I spotted a pair of pink panties on the side walk, wondered about that story and how they got there.

Auditory - This I have a little control over since I am riding with a mp3 player. I am usually catching up on podcasts or jamming some tunes to get me going. Today it was 'Best of Van Halen' I remember most, Eddies guitar sound is still one of my favorite tones.

Sensory - The smell as I was going by Mexico Lindo, it smelled like they were making the chips, even though it was a greasy smell ... I liked it ... alot.

Theater - Really just working on base miles this time of year so I wanted to get a few hours in. This ride is one of my typical routes from home to plra out to the gravel roads and hills of white lake, out to and a lap around the metro park and back home.

Spring Thaw

Well we have made it through the worst of winter and the visions of sunny days are starting to fill our heads. Soon we will be riding along those dusty trails without a care in the world. We should stop and remember to take care of the trails and the little creatures of the forest.

Wally Pelotas

March is here and along with it some warmer average temps High/Low: 42 ºF / 25 ºF and that brings me to the IMBA tip of the month.

"Trails are easily damaged by hiking and cycling (and should be avoided) during the spring
freeze-thaw cycle, when the temperature drops into the 20s at night, then climbs into the 40s during the day".

That is all for now.
