The Perfect Ride

I left you last time with the exciting episode 'All greased up and no where to go'. Well today's ride was as close to perfect as they get minus the trail fantasies. The weather was great the trails and back roads where only damp enough to keep the dust down. I had nothing really planned except to get a long ride in with a good portion of climbing.

As I got started I noticed the the typical knee tightness that comes after a couples days off the bike. I just took my time and took a good long warm up which after 30 minutes and 6.5 miles puts me at the PLRA trail head. When I started climbing two mile hill I noticed that I was hardly breathing. As I standed to climb the legs I had that feeling of I can do this all day.

That was when I noticed I had entered the zone. It had been a couple weeks since I had felt that and I was starting to wonder why it had left me or if it would ever return. Usually when the big 'S' is on the chest it doesnt last long maybe a climb or two or a lap around a local trail. Today it lasted for 50 miles it wasn't until I was at 3:45 mark and on the way home that even noticed the legs were burning which was a good thing because I want to get out and do it all over again tomorrow.
