Lake Orion High School weeknight races
Registration is now open for the Lake Orion GAP Weeknight races, June 9 and 16. Races start at 6:45 behind the high school and include a mix of school fields, singletrack, and a portion of Bald Mountain. These are very low key races that are a good way to test your fitness and race against your friends. Jet's normally donates pizza for after the race. Races usually last about an hour or less, depending on the class. Cost is $15 or less for preregistering, $5 more for day of. For the Sport and Advanced riders we intend to use all of the trail, Beginners will have a shorter and easier loop. Some who have ridden the entire loop this year have said it's one of the hardest trails in SE Michigan. Come find out for yourself and see if you are up to the challenge.

Four weeks left until the first race. I'm happy to report that the first race is sponsored by Rochester Bike Shop and the second by Cycletherapy. These shops have been consistent supporters of the program, please help support them as well.
The school has removed two of the dead trees I was not able to, trees that restricted the lines in two corners, especially the one at the bottom of a downhill after weaving through a small rock garden. The trail flows much better now. They are also working on a new downhill from the top of the soccer field, actually you now go all the way across the top to the wood line by the football field. The first part of the downhill sort of reminds me of a four cross track. It is in very rough shape right now but ridable.
