The first race in the Lake Orion High School GAP weeknight short track series is just four weeks away. These races are similar to cyclocross races in style and intensity but without the barriers. Races are bout 1.5-2.0 miles a lap and run in length from 35-20 minutes but are at a very high intensity level. This is great training for the 'cross season or the last XC races of the year.

Race entry fees are only $10 and proceeds benefit MiSCA. 50% payback to the top three racers in each class except students (can't have them turning pro yet) Students will receive prizes in lieu of cash.

The races are:
September 8th Start at 6:30
September 14th Start at 6:30
September 28th Start at 6:15
October 5th Start at 6:15

Classes are:
A Open
B male
B Female
C Male
C Female
Male 18 and under
Female 18 and under

One week from tonight is the first short track race at LOHS. I have a tentative course in mind, around 1.8 - 2.0 miles. Start time is 6:30 and the cost is only $10. Classes are Open, B Men, B Women, C Men, C Women, 18 and under Men, 18 and under Women. Top 3 in each class split 50% of the class entry fee except 18 and under which will get swag.

Races should be about 25-35 minutes in length and are a great way to get ready for the cyclocross season. Cross bikes are not required and may not even give you an advantage, but the courses will contain little to no singletrack.

Don't forget that Wednesday's race will start at 6:15, rain or shine. Since I'm organizing the race, it's most likely the former. :)
