Getting ready to head for the UP for O2S. Will be doing SS in the Soft Rock. Anyone else heading up? Picked up a carbon fork for the Rig and been training hard. Hopefully it pays off. Will post up on trails and the race over this week.

Race Report

Weather was perfect and was around mid pack for the start. Got hung up in traffic in the first section of two track. When we started to move I started to move forward. There was some water and mud in the first half of the race from recent rain. I felt strong and pushed my pace only walking climbs when I got caught in traffice. Finished in 1:53 with a 14 mph average. Good enough for 18th.

O2s

I haven't done the 48mile in few years so the full rigid single was a lesson in itself. The weather was perfect for me, and the trail was exactly what ore to shore is all about. I felt great the whole race, had a little cramping in the calves but still enjoyed every mile. This race to me is very manageable and competitive all at the same time and both distances can ruin you. (duke even got a mid race complement on the kit) o2s is always a good reason to visit the U.P. This race is run very well and has every discipline of mountain biking you can thank of mixed into one race (the cut off this year was a train you had to beat by 3:45pm or your pulled) actually had a friend this year with a 45min mechanical 3 miles in turn his blown race into a hammer fest to beat the train, and he did. Solid race for me finished in 3:17 / 14.6mph exactly what my gear was set at, should I have gone bigger? Until next year. Good job Dennis I saw you on your roll out nothing beats a mass start (always sketchy)

Great job Steve!

I got a compliment on the kit also. This was the first time I ran rigid, picked up a carbon fork about a month ago. The weight savings is incredible. I ran 33/17 on the 29er. Was spinning out on some of the flats, however I made that up on the climbs. My next race that I am looking at is the Grampian Challenge and then Peak to Peak.
