i have a 3/32 cog and chainring and stupidly just went into lbs and asked for a ss chain and they gave me a 1/8th (my fault) and i dont like it. Im guessing when i got the bike it had a 3/32 but i dont know what one to get. What chains do you recommend?

Prefer SRAM 8 speed chains

Prefer SRAM 8 speed chains w/PowerLink (PC-48) but will use PC-1 if needed. I should really investigate other brands.

I happen to know that you had

I happen to know that you had a kmc z410 on that when you got it. in the bling bling gold flavor. I am a big fan of the kmc chains. the 410 I believe is still a 1/8th chain. and fairly heavy too. and they stretch pretty fast. but they are cheap and if you change em like you change the oil in your car then there isn't much to compain about. actually I have a few hundred miles on a kmc z710sl. hollow pins, hollow plates... I paid $20 for it and figured I would be changing it out really quick from stretch. It has held up really, really well. only about a half a turn on the tensioner to keep up. guess you get what you pay for.

I use Sram chains, their SS

I use Sram chains, their SS chain is okay, but in my experience doesn't work as smoothly as the 8-speed chain. And the higher end Sram chains last longer than the less expensive ones fo shore! So I don't get anything less than a Sram 870.

i use

i'm currently running a kmc 1/8 single speed chain (purple) and its not super smooth but it was cheap and i need a 1/8 to clear the oversized teeth on my budget freewheel. it's good enough for me and the price was right, considering this is my to work and back winter bike.
