There was an internet posting of questions regarding start times and SS categories

In the past, it was common for numerous expert or elite riders to also race expert/elite singlespeed as a second category. What we have noticed in the last few years is that this was a declining trend. In 2010, for example, there were only four two-cat participants of about 40 that raced SS. One key reason for the decline is that the experts and elites do two laps at Yankee now. This pushes the physical limits as well as makes the timing to get back to the finish and change bikes more difficult.

We also had a small clamor then for the Expert/elite SS to do two laps. Consequently, we've moved the expert/elite SS into the expert category for timing and you will be starting amongst all the other expert racers.

10:00:00 Elite Men Elites one every ten seconds
10:05:00 Elite Women Elites one every ten seconds

10:10:00 Expert men Experts start two every 15sec (incl exp/el SS)
10:20:00 Expert women Experts start two every 15sec

11:45:00 Tandems One at a time

12:00:00 Sport racers two racers at every 10 seconds (incl sport/beg SS)
12:25:00 Beginner Racers two racers at every 10 seconds

Okay- it's official! I've

Okay- it's official! I've just received word that the DNR will not delay entry into the park for the Yankee Springs Time Trial to check or sell entry stickers for those cars that need them. This will facilitate smooth flow of traffic into the Yankee Springs Deep Lake area for the race.

HOWEVER- they will be going BY THE BOOK - so if your plate was renewed last Oct 1, 2010 to April 17, 2011- if you do NOT have the "P" passport on your license plate sticky-tab- you will NEED to pay an entry fee to the recreation area.

As soon as you park your car, you will need to go to the DNR kiosk and pay either the $10 passport fee or the $8 daily sticker. Once traffic settles down, the DNR will be going through the park and checking vehicles- if you are supposed to have the proper entry permit and do not, you could get a citation (rumored to be $100).

I realize some the implementation of this Passport program is a bit confusing to many, so if you have ANY doubt- go to the DNR kiosk and check with them as anyway.

But a thanks does go out to the DNR for working with us on this to get cars parked quickly and accomodating our event and all our participating racers. Lets not spoil the day with a ticket.

See you in 16 days.

Just a reminder that

Just a reminder that pre-registration terminates midnight Friday night. The chapter held a trail maintenance day last Saturday and the course is in good shape and fast.
