Sounds like Wisconsin to me, I remember doing a lot of running and only cows to talk to. I do hate hearing stories like this, the guy is doing everything right, I guess you just never know when you will have to pay the ferryman.

When I first starting riding bikes he was the best mtb'er in the US. He rode for Mongoose back then, not too many Mongoose riders in the pro mtb ranks anymore eh? In 2000 when he won the NORBA title but wasn't on the US Olympic team I was really bummed. Not long after that he went to triathlons. Too bad, he could have been in the discussion of the top two or three mtb'ers ever if he would have continued doing it.
