So I'm riding into work a couple days a week right now. It's only an 8 mile ride and I have bikepath (I-275 pathway and Hines Drive) for 90% of it. It's a great way to start and finish the day! Well yesterday was an interesting one. I got attacked by multiple redwing blackbirds. One of them squawked in my ear and pecked at my helmet. Stupid birds..... same thing happened this time last year. Anyone else ever experience this? Scares the hell out of you! Want to start a support group? The ride got even more interesting a couple of miles later.... Two deer jumped OVER the 6 foot high fence onto the I-275 pathway about 5 feet in front of me. They ran a few yards in front of me for a minute or two and then jumped back over the fence. That was just cool! Not what you'd expect to see in the middle of suburbia!
Just thought I'd share. Biking rules!
Geese while running is the closest I have come to being attacked except for this one time at band camp.
