Kisscross finale -
Yes I'm totally biased, but the
Kisscross finale hosted by
Velo City was completely awesome. It was held in the football stadium and music was blaring, the lights were on and the scoreboard was counting down the minutes. Before I knew it I was running as hard as I could....
And pedaling through a death spiral that sucked the life out of my legs.....
And repeat........

My friend Julie stood in rain to cheer me on. I could seriously hear her all the way across the football field-it was awesome!!! As you can see, Scott was also very enthusiastic :-)
This was the first cross race where I really wanted a cross bike. I think the skinny tires would have cut through the mud much easier. By the time I made it through the "death spiral" my bike would be so heavy that I could barely make it up the second set of stairs. Luckily there was a bit of pavement afterwards, so I was able to shed most of the mud before it all started again.
What a blast. I wish that there were a few more races left to do!
Next up: Yoga for cyclists is starting at
Velo City on Tuesday nights at 7:30. I highly recommend this class. It focuses on stretching out all of the normal problem areas for cyclists (tight hamstrings, IT bands) and there is a ton of good core work too. Trust me, you will be sore afterwards, but it's the good kind of sore!
