Long time no chat, eh boys?

I need some input on lights. Recommendations, the goods, the bads, the uglies, weight, and durability comments would be awesome.

I have a set now that are a bit old and don't hold a charge very well. I'm looking to invest in a good set but would like to ask some friendlies first.

Thanks.

I have a Niterider TriNewt..

I have a Niterider TriNewt.. Light output is cleaner than the HID's my opinion (TriNewt is LED). Battery time is good, 3.5 on high, 7 on low, battery pack is big but light weight. Only thing I am not crazy about is the mounting, cable comes out the bottom instead of the side on my old Niterider, and you could reach up and adjust it. This one you have to get the mount aimed right, since it wont move in the mount like my older one.

Other than that I have been happy. Just dont shine it in your eyes, I hit the power button when I got it, takes a second to come on, I looked at it like WTF, took an indirect blast in the peepers and was seeing dots. Im an Idiot.

My first question would be

My first question would be what are your goals with this light system? if its to do a couple hour night rides or if you want to do 12/24 hour events may make a huge difference in requirements and cost.

Thanks for the input. I was looking towards the LED's but a good offer on an HID came up and I may accept. I'm still shopping and getting opinions. 6/12 for sure this year, 24's next year.
