marzocchi forks
I have a 07 Marzocchi xc600 with tst2 and ata. The manual states that I am suppose to replace these cartridges ever 25 to 50 hours, has anyone picked these up and serviced the forks on their own, if so were and how pricy? I am also lookin at the issue that my lockout will not unlock that is on the tst2 cartridge side of the fork. I heard that I may have bent somthing does that sound about right?
Wow 25-50 hours would be every 2 - 3 weeks. I have never had a Marzocchi. Sorry...
I know a lot of those companies have a suggested maintenance schedule for their products but the normal guy/gal doesn`t have time to follow that close of a regimine. I know when I had my fox fork, I was reading the manual and they suggested some crazy thing like every 20 to 40 hours....No way in he!!. Ride it until it falls apart, starts to feel off or makes weird noises, that`s my motto.
Pay attention when you take it apart. Takes notes, take pictures. Place the pieces somewhere clean in the order you remove them. Don't force anything. Use decent tools. I've taken apart Manitou, Rock Shox, Marzocchi, AMP, RST, and prolly a few others without any fancy tools or even reading the manual. Never had a problem.
Manual is handy for oil fill amounts and weight, tho.
I've had forks in the past that never leaked a drop, but when I went to install stiffer springs, there was about 1/5th of the proper amount of oil as stated from the factory. So Just taking it apart and filling to the correct amount had profound effects on performance. Point of fact, it was not a Marzocchi.

My fork hasn't fallen apart out side, but think maybe inside, I am not sure thats why i am looking for some tech help without having to go to a bike shop. My fork is now stuck in lock out, the nice 130mm of travel I have is not avaible due to some sort of malfunction. I used to be able to get it unstuck from locked out by playing with my rebound adjustment, that doesn't work anymore. I want to take it apart and fix it myself but I also don't want to break something because I don't have the money to buy a new fork otherwise I would be switching over to a 29er this season.
