Origin 8 Scout 29er

Picked this up for my winter ride, it is a lot of bike for the money. It came with 2 of my favorite tires Maxxis Ignitor's that have been removed and stored till next spring and replaced with some winter rocking fatties WTB Weirwolf's 2.55" front and rear.

The Avid BB5's brakes, rotors, levers and cables (For Sale complete) were replaced with my previous winter brakes Avid BB7's brakes, rotors, levers and cables.

It came with a workable 34t/18t ring/cog combo, I replaced the 18t stamped cog for a Surly 18t. Removed the bashguard just cause I don't like them.

Replaced the Origin8 Pro Pulsion hi-rise bars and Origin8 lock on grips (For Sale) and replaced with my take offs low-rise bars from my 29FG.

Thats about it, thanks napper for the hookup.

Took it out today for a little shake down chain stretching ride. The geometry felt great with just some simple seat height and fore/aft adjustments. The out of the saddle climbing also felt solid. It has a external BB and Truvativ Hussefelt cranks that were stiff. The brakes needed some dialing to end that noise. The 2.55s had me anchored to the trail all the time. I will hit the single track tomorrow and add to this report.

In the end this bike is way over the top for just a winter ride.

Thanks again napper http://www.terryscycle.com

Day 2 Another short ride,

Day 2

Another short ride, the brake adjustments were noise free, pumped the fatties up to 40lbs they rolled much better than yesterday still no single track need to get some orange on, there were a lot of hunters roaming around today.

Got it out on the single

Got it out on the single track today and I really like the geometry. The rigid fork and aluminum bars with thin factory grips were a little abusive thru the winter riding gloves with no padding whatsoever. The fatties stay hooked up well I should have lowered the pressures, in hind sight the 40lbs and the cold temps weren't providing much in the 'taking the edge' off department. I really like this bike may keep it around for a work horse come spring.

2.5" Tires

How were you able to fit 2.5's on this bike. I checked one out at my local LBS, they had 2.1 Ignitors on it and there was very little clearance at the chainstays. Otherwise, I would buy it.

I sold that a while back but don't remember any issues with the WTB Weirwolf 2.55"
