The 10th Annual Quake on the Lake inboard hydroplane races return to Pontiac Lake the weekend of July 17-19.

The 1-mile oval course is at Pontiac Lake Recreation Area, off Williams Lake Road and north of M-59.

This year, the location is the site of the American Power Boat Association’s Inboard Hydroplane Eastern Divisional Championships Race, and teams from across the United States and Canada will compete for extra divisional points and championship trophies.

Drivers compete in eight classes — including Grand Prix, Grand National, National Modified, 5 Litre, 2.5 Litre Modified, 2.5 Litre Stock, 1.5 Litre Modified and 1.5 Litre Stock.

Added attractions this year will be the J-Hydro Class, featuring drivers ages 9 to 14 and the Vintage Class.

Proceeds from the three-day event will benefit the Rainbow Connection, a 501(c)(3)charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, and other local charities.

A special wakeboarding competition and exhibition will be July 18. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 and free for kids 4 and younger. More information and a schedule of events can be found at www.QuakeOnTheLake.org.
