tech question - self loosening QR skewer

So on my last couple of rides, I've noticed that by the end, my back wheel has a little play in it. I've determined it's the quick release skewer nut loosening itself up. It takes very little force to flip the QR open after the ride, and I know it was tight when the rides started. Anyone else ever experience this? Could I put a little loctite on threads? Other solutions? I think given enough time, like in a 12 hour race, the nut would loosen to point that the rear wheel could potentially fall off. That would not be good for business!

If you use disc brakes, I

If you use disc brakes, I heard you should run your skewers on the reverse side because of the the forces (and heat generated) from the disc brakes, and that may tend to loosen the skewers. I would also check to see if there is anything inbetween the skewer and droupout (sand, grease, etc.) What kind of skewers do you use? Hub bearings are fine? Just throwing stuff out there that I would look for. Good luck.

I have the stock one back on now and it's the one giving me issues. That one you're thinking of didn't loosen up, so maybe I'll put it back on. It sure is ugly though

So the QR lever should be on the disc side or the drive side?

Did it again at Maybury

Did it again at Maybury today. I think I'm going to switch back to the butt-ugly skewer until I can find a new one.

skewer

I had this happen with a OEM skewer before. Best solution is to get a good set of skewers.
